Ces montagnes, ces désert et ces mers qui changent. Mehdi Melhaoui remanie et réinvente ces entités paysagères en métamorphose permanente. Ces sculptures sont comme un témoignage de notre époque, sur une planète qui s’effondre ou l’oubli de vivant règne en maître et ou tout devient aveugles. Les formes : lignes et plis en répétitions sont dans un mouvement à la fois complexes et harmonieux. Mehdi tente de trouver une solution plastique à une équation aux formes cosmologique animiste plus ajuster. Les sculptures, couvertes d’une peau en verre fondu projetée nous rappel les surfaces brut et primitive des paysages désertiques. Mehdi nous emmène ainsi aux confins du monde et du vivant.
Mehdi Melhaoui‘s sculptures unfold as arresting movement of form in space, enlivened by a deepunderstanding of different materials and their very own affordances. On these grounds,observation and meditation lie at the very origin of his works as he seeks for different ways of visual translation in order to lend rhythm and depth to his creations. While some of the sculptures are rooted in a figurative narration, their iconographic language is ultimately conceptual in aconstant quest for modes of all egorical speech. As if animated from within, his works appear in constant flux, a powerful reminder of the instability inherent in a world in transformation
